Students who don't show up to classes don't learn and don't pass tests. It's the natural consequence to absences. The current policy is a colossal waste of time and needs to go.
ReplyDeleteWhat would be a better replacement policy? Is there even really such a thing now as not passing a test? I thought because of the new grading policy everyone gets at least a 50...so the kids would need to only make up 10 points somewhere else. Should there be a minimum level of class attendance, where you then get a "LC" that doesn't count against your GPA, you just have to re-take the class? The article said teachers were split: what are the arguments for and against?

ReplyDeleteTeachers in Montgomery County ARE NOT allowed to use participation as a grade. For some time now.
