Gov. O'Malley "re-designed wall...is acceptable to community"

On May 19, 2010, Governor Martin O'Malley was contacted as a member of the Maryland Board of Public Works regarding the surprise construction of an extensive retaining wall at the Cabin John Middle School site.

On November 4, 2010, Governor O'Malley responded to that inquiry.

Included in the response is the Governor's statement that, "It is my understanding that since the spring of this year, Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) has been responsive to the concerns raised by community members and has re-designed the retaining wall in a manner that is acceptable to the community."

Is that correct Cabin John community, the retaining wall on Gainsborough Road is acceptable?

Governor O'Malley also confirms that although the Cabin John Middle School construction is well under way the project has not yet been approved for any funding from the State of Maryland. Montgomery County is apparently flush with school construction funds and State of Maryland funding isn't necessary for school construction projects to proceed.
