Gazette: Leggett: Montgomery school system divulged health care surplus in April

...Ervin and other council members have accused Weast and members of the county’s Board of Education of providing fraudulent information about the school system’s budget to the council.
Ervin said she will announce her plans for an inquiry into the matter later this week, and Councilwoman Nancy Navarro (D-Dist. 4) of Silver Spring said the issue might call for inquiry by the county’s inspector general, which acts as the government’s watchdog.
Ervin said she also plans to speak with County Executive Isiah Leggett (D) to ask when he knew about the extra money.
Leggett first learned the school system might not need to spend as much on health care benefits in April, he said, adding no specific amount of money was mentioned.
In response, Ervin said the council could not rely on accurate information from him or the school system. The council approved a fiscal 2012 budget May 26....
