The article in the Wash Post by Ms. Chandler (link on this blog post) is really an eye-opener about how Montgomery County operates its budget. The BOE spends over half its annual budget on MCPS; $2.1Billion proposed this year and yet people are not encouraged by either party, Republican or Democratic, to pay attention to these races. Maybe we need to change the definition of 'progressive' to accomodate the reality of this county. Read Ms. Chandler's blog post, this is just sad.
