Gazette: Parents of dead football player sue Frostburg State

The family of a Germantown man who died in August 2011 after suffering repeated head injuries in college football practices at Frostburg State University blame his coaches’ “utter incompetence” for the student’s death, according to a lawsuit they filed last week.

  1. The Frostburg State U. football coaches alleged by Derek Sheely's family to have caused his death by conducting dangerous football drills remain as the school's current football coaches. The athletic trainer who the Sheely family allege acted improperly also remains in his position.

    A number of MCPS graduates are on the Frostburg State U. (NCAA Div. III) football team roster this year.

    Has the FSU President and the Md Board of Regents determined that the FSU football program is safe? How many concussions has the team had this year?
