To Do Today: Let's Find that Dog - Flower Hill Elementary School Community

On March 9, 2015, at the Flower Hill Elementary School morning drop off a 1st grader was bitten by a dog.  The dog was on a leash and was being walked by an adult bringing another very young student (possibly a kindergartener) to school.

A dog bite report was made to Montgomery County, but no action was taken to find the dog.
The Flower Hill Elementary School Principal has not alerted the community and has not asked for help in finding the dog. Flower Hill Elementary School is in Gaithersburg.

It's been a week. If the dog is not found by Wednesday the victim of the dog bite will need to get rabies shots.  Someone in this school community knows who walks a dog to school.  Let's find that dog today!

  1. One week can be a long time to wait for the rabies shot. Most folks I know would get it right away if bitten by an apparently "disappearing dog". Better safe then sorry unless there are sensitivity, drug allergy or other reasons to hold off.

    1. "Most folks you know" is not medical advice. Thanks for weighing in, but actual doctors and medical personnel are caring for this child. They just need the County and MCPS to do their best to at least attempt to locate the dog. The dog, by the way, that didn't at all disappear. The dog was with an adult, on a lease and with a fellow student.

The adults charged with caring and supervising our public school students need to at least attempt to do whatever they can to keep the victim from having to undergo rabies shots. Wasn't it just a few minutes ago that a major goal of MCPS was to take care of the social and emotional well being of students? Oh, how quickly we forget.
