$16,500 in State and County Taxes Owed on Wheaton HS Cell Tower #itsonlymoney

As a follow up to our post this morning concerning the readings from the Wheaton High School cell tower, let's check to see if the property taxes are paid up on this tower.

No, it looks like the back property taxes have still not been paid on the Wheaton High School cell tower.

A cell tower, by the way, that MCPS designed an entire high school around.  The MCPS plans worked around the cell tower.  Fascinating, isn't it? MCPS designed an entire high school complex around a private cell tower that isn't even current on their property taxes.

    1. Tell Mr. Trump if he buys the liens , Maryland will be in his pocket. He is so unpredictable at times he may just do it as a matter of right vs. wrong. We the prople count too.

  2. There are NO liens on these cell towers!!! Somebody should ask Mr. Joe Beach as to why the County is not pursuing payment. If a homeowner is behind, their property gets a lien and the paper sold for a potential foreclosure action. But because the school system owns the property, MoCo cuts the cell tower companies a break....a tax payment break.

  3. If the County, by terms of the underlying lease, is responsible for the payment of the property tax, then there would be no liens or balance due.

    1. They aren't. The property taxes are all online with the names of the cell tower companies that are refusing to pay their Maryland property taxes.

  4. Not to be argumentative, but that doesn't guaranty that the SDAT records are correct.

    1. I guess we have all missed the 6 cell tower companies, COMCAST included, complaining that their online SDAT records were not accurate.

We have been reporting on this for YEARS and the press has covered this issue multiple times, including today, and never once has a cell tower company that owes back taxes stepped forward to complain that the public records were inaccurate.

    2. Run this account on the Montgomery County property tax site and let us know what you find. Then, please contact the cell tower company listed, they are right in Bethesda, and ask them why these amounts are shown as outstanding for the last 7 years.

  5. BOARD OF EDUCATION
C/O TOWER CO 6905 ROCKLEDGE DR STE 100 BETHESDA, MD 20817

    If it was,

TOWER CO 6905 ROCKLEDGE DR STE 100 BETHESDA, MD 20817
    C/O BOARD OF EDUCATION

    then I would agree.

    1. You would agree with what? It's the Tower Companies bill.

  6. Well, I just checked another school with a tower and the bill is set-up the same way. But in this case, the tower owner is paying! Boy, if they are reading this Blog, they'll learn how to save a little cash in the future by not paying the tax bill. See account: 03696567

    1. FYI - These bills didn't even exist until Louis Wilen of the Parents' Coalition investigated and reported that these cell towers were not even being assessed. So if the cell tower vendors had their way, these tax bills would never be issued and the taxpayers would be out all of this revenue, forever.
